If you're planning on staying indoors all day with large blankets and plenty of soakage, you're in luck because most of the east coast of Ireland is now under snow and anything you've planned today is probably cancelled.
Met Eireann now has issued a Status Orange alert for Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Meath and Waterford until 6PM today, with the rest of the country under Status Yellow. The AA are advising "motorists not to travel unless necessary as heavy snowfall is affecting all main and secondary routes," with snowfall reaching up to 3 to 4 centimetres in parts of the south-east.
Dublin Airport is currently open for traffic, but previously suspended runway traffic to clear fallen snow. Iarnrod Eireann is also expecting delays of up to 45 minutes on the Dublin-Sligo route and DART services, with Dublin City Council and local councils confirming road crews are working to clear snow wherever it can.
On top of that, a number of events around the country have been cancelled due to the snow. So, yeah, stay in bed, watch a movie and conserve bread where you can.
