New Zealand yesterday passed their Marriage Equality Bill, opening up Civil Marriage to same-sex couples and, as opposed to the world ending as some opponents idiotically preached, the entire parliament stood up and broke out into joyous song, singing a traditional Maori love song called Pokarekare Ana. It's a wonderful moment of beauty and does a lot to reaffirm your faith in humanity, and has since gone viral around the world.
It also has to be mentioned that New Zealand has some standout politicians that we need more of on this side of the world. Humour, intelligence and a conscience? We'll take that.
