For a place that's known as the Rebel County, it looks like Cork isn't all that rebellious when it comes to sex.
A new survey of 100 cities conducted by hookup app Lazeeva found that the so-called "real capital" of Ireland is, far and away, the least sex-positive city. Dublin, the actual real capital, ranked in 61st in the world, whilst Paris topped the survey.
Lazeeva's survey worked by assessing and scoring each city on a number of factors, including "good access to modern contraception, a positive attitude to the LGBT community and equal rights for everyone." The data then broke down further into scores that included sex toy consumption, porn consumption, a "swingers score", LGBT friendliness, and being sexually active and experimental.
The data was pulled from a number of sources, including LGBT organisations and charities, the World Bank, the UN-WHO and a survey of 450,000 people from the ages of 18 to 70.
On the sexually active and experimental metric, Cork scored 0.1 and 0.2 respectively. Dublin, however, didn't score much better - mustering a 1.1 and 2 on the same metric. Porn consumption in Cork, meanwhile, was measured at 2.8, with the most frequent search term looked at in porn being 'Lesbian'.
Dublin, meanwhile, scored 6.2 for porn consumption whilst 'Lesbian' was also the most frequent search term in porn. For sex toy consumption, Cork measured at just 0.1 in comparison to Dublin's 4.6. Perhaps the most damning metric, however, was sexual satisfaction - with Corkonians rating themselves at 0.5.
