A man who (allegedly) poached a domain name for a rehab centre in memory of the late Amy Winehouse has defended his actions as a "business" decision.

Mitch Winehouse last month revealed plans to set up The Amy Winehouse Foundation to help younglings struggling with drug and alcohol addictions. But plans have had to be halted after the name was registered as an official company, forcing a furious Mitch to return donations given to help found the centre.

He Tweeted at the weekend: "We all have to bombard the tabloids websites to put pressure on this d*** head who stole our foundation name."

Now the man, who has been identified as 58-year-old Martin McCann, has explained why he bought it (MONEYMONEYRETIREMENTFUNDMONEY???). He told The Sun: "I'm not exploiting anything yet (at least he had the grace to say "yet"). I've just bought some domain names. Anybody could have. It only takes the click of a mouse. I'm not ashamed or embarrassed. Detach yourself from emotions and think business. He is making every effort to hijack this charity to satiate his own needs for the charity. She's not the only Amy Winehouse in the world... I'm not the d***head. The d***head is sitting over there without the name in his possession."

The last few lines of text did instigate a rollicking cackle at my end, but one can't help but feel sorry for the kids the foundation proposed to help... that's assuming Mitch wasn't going to use the funds to record that imminent covers album.
