Luckily, she and all of her crew are safe
"My crew, band, friends and family who were all traveling with me are safe after an emergency landing."
Miley Cyrus and all of her crew had a very lucky plane escape this week, after the aircraft they were travelling on was struck by lightning.
The 29-year-old 'Mightnight Sky' singer was travelling to a music festival in Paraguay when the incident took place. The Asunciónico Festival hadn't taken place since 2019, but now unfortunately for festival-goers in attendance, it will be one headliner short (if the event gets to take place at all).
Cyrus has been forced to pull out of her festival appearance following her terrifying air experience. According to the star, her plane was able to make an emergency landing elsewhere in South America.
Sharing a video and a picture of the damage the lightning had caused to the aircraft, Cyrus wrote to her followers on Instagram: "To my fans and everyone worried after hearing about my flight to Asunción. Our plane was caught in a major unexpected storm and struck by lighting.
"My crew, band, friends and family who were all travelling with me are safe after an emergency landing.
"We were unfortunately unable to fly into Paraguay. [Broken heart emoji] I LOVE YOU."
Miley Cyrus and her frightening plane journey is just one extremely unfortunate happening involving the Asunciónico Festival. Asunción, Paraguay’s capital, experienced substantial flooding and rainfall on Tuesday, which forced the festival's opening day to be cancelled. Cyrus was due to headline the festival on Wednesday, with the likes of Foo Fighters and Doja Cat forced to cancel their sets on Tuesday.
Attendees were evacuated from the event yesterday after only two hours of the festival, due to severe rain conditions. It's not yet known if Wednesday's headliners will get the chance to take to the stage.
