Well this is an odd one. We understand that it can be annoying when a movie doesn't reclaim its costs and tanks at the box office, but we never thought we'd see someone suing the star for the films failure. Particularly when that star is Michael Keaton.

A bit of background before we delve in. Keaton signed on to direct and star in Christmas flick 'The Merry Gentleman' but due to several issues between the producers and Keaton, and according to the production company Merry Gentlemen LLC Keaton's erratic behaviour, the film was a disaster from the get go. The federal lawsuit  which TMZ have got their grubby mitts on claims that Keaton demanded the building of two editing studios, one because he went on a fishing trip to Montana and wanted to be able to come and go easily, phoned in his directing duties (going so for as to tell the producers his first first cut of the movie was crap), threatened to blacklist the production from going to Sundance if it wasn't the version he wanted and then was a complete looper and basically failed at promoting the film to any effect.

The multi-million dollar movie took a paltry $350,000 on release, so MG Productions are now looking for 'unspecified damages' in the hopes of getting their money back. Let's hope Keaton still has some of that Batman/Beetlejuice money tucked under the mattress for safe keeping.
