The social media force is strong with this one
The 'Star Wars' actor accepted a challenge from a fan from Northern Ireland, which lead to Twitter going into meltdown.
Asking someone to tweet their own name probably won't make that much of an impact on the world, right? Well, unless your name is Mark Hamill, Twitter might not even notice.
One Hamill stan asked the 69-year-old to tweet his own name, saying he'd get "thousands of likes" for doing so. Taking on the dare, the icon did as he was asked, and his tweet has received thousands and thousands of likes. Nearly half a million in fact (at the time of writing).
Known for playing Luke Skywalker in the 'Star Wars' franchise, as well as lending his voice to many animated features and series such as 'Batman: The Animated Series' and 'Masters of the Universe: Revelations', it's fair to say that the actor has one of the biggest fanbases on the planet.
A number of other high profile fans got in on the Mark Hamill Twitter challenge to see if they too would get thousands of like, including George Takei from 'Star Trek', Lance Reddick from 'John Wick', and 'This Is Us' producer Ken Olin.
The Mark Hamill fan who asked him to turn Twitter into a Hamill appreciation page for a few hours also tweeted their surprise at how quickly their challenge took off on the platform.
Actor Lauren McGinty from Northern Ireland is the one who set the challenge, which resulted in her "space dad" checking out her profile, ensuring they won't be forgetting this Twitter interaction for a very long time.
