You know how it is, you work up all the courage to pop the big question to your girlfriend, you get everything ready, you buy the ring, get the 99 iPhones, you meet her one aft... wait, what was that bit about the iPhones?
Well, that's what a man in China thought he needed to help convince his girlfriend to say yes to his proposal of marriage ahead of the upcoming Singles Day, a day originally intended to allow single people to celebrate, and get out and have some fun with one another. It's held on November 11th every year, because the date is made up of the number one (11/11).
However, while his gesture was grand (around $82,000 to be precise) she unfortunately said no, and now the image of him, his girlfriend, a crowd of onlookers and 99 iPhones arranged in the shape of a heart is all over social media in China, in particular weibo, their equivalent of Twitter.
