It's never a good idea to head to court with 'F*ck U' specifically stencilled on your 'Up Yours' finger. You could keep your hands out of shot and hope no one clocks it, ooorrr press said finger against your bee stung lips while you're avidly listening to your fate.

Lindsay's not so subtle message could now land her in further strife, with helpful sources saying "It would be a separate charge for contempt. She could have an entire extra sentence heaped on top of her current one. If the judge were angry enough, it could run even consecutively."

Lindsay took to the 'celebrity rantsalot box' (her Twitter account) to defend herself. Firstly, she involved a friend: "@liana_levi: 'Didn't we do our nails as a joke with our friend dc? it had nothing to do w/court.. it's an airbrush design from a stencil xx.' Still undeniably feckless to go to court with it, though... although this could work with her inevitable "insanity" plea.

The protest was followed with a string of further tweets apparently attacking the "constitutionally perverted" justice system: "It is clearly stated in Article 5 of the U.N. Universal Declaration of Human Rights that ... 'No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.'"

A few beats later, she added: "this was taken from an article by Erik Luna.. 'November 1 marked the 15th anniversary of the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines. But there were no ... celebrations, parades, or other festivities in honor of this punishment scheme created by Congress and the U.S. Sentencing Commission....'

"Instead, the day passed like most others during the last 15 years: Scores of federal defendants sentenced under a constitutionally perverted' ... system that saps moral judgment through its mechanical rules.'" (I'd like to thank the good people in The New York Post for chronicling the Tweets; my eyes glazed over after the "stencil" one.)

You still with me? Right. Wait for it. She then linked to an article "about an Iranian woman being stoned for committing adultery" - 'cause the two scenarios are entirely comparable...

All things considered, though, the ramblings aren't that irrational given her parentage. I mentioned yesterday that Michael Lohan went partying in an LA bar after Lindsay's hearing (and after giving a slew of interviews, in which he tearfully said he felt "dismay, but at the same time a little satisfaction that she's going to rehab", and wistfully reminisced about when Lindsay visited him in prison)...Ok, going out and jovially getting bladdered is one thing; to say to TMZ (they just happened to be present) he was tempted to ring Lindsay from the boozer "to make her jealous" is the thought process of the sickeningly unhinged.

True story.
