Cage Warriors, the original stomping ground for Irish UFC stars Conor McGregor, Cathal Pendred, Neil Seery and Paddy Holohan, returns to Dublin's Helix Theatre this Saturday evening for Cage Warriors 70. The main event pits Irish standout Joseph Duffy taking on French lightweight Damien Lapilus, as well as featuring a card brimming with talent including Phil Mulpeter, John Redmond and Artem Lobov.
The name Joseph Duffy has long been on the lips of Irish MMA fans. Duffy, who sports a professional record of 10-1, is the only man to hold victories over both McGregor and Norman Parke - both of whom are UFC regulars now.
Duffy has signed a five-fight deal with Cage Warriors and hasn't competed in an MMA contest since October 2011. After suffering his only career loss to Ivan Musardo, Duffy elected to take some time away from MMA and embarked on a professional boxing career where he went undefeated in seven bouts before deciding to make the return to MMA.
The Donegal man is expected to be one of the next superstars on the Irish MMA scene to make it to the UFC but in order to reach the bright lights of Las Vegas Duffy must first take care of business a little closer to home.
