"Did your baby read this to you Lea?"
Have you ever heard of the conspiracy theory about the former 'Glee' star? Let us educate you in case you haven't.
Can Lea Michele read? We don't know about you, but it's a question we've often asked ourselves.
While on a hiatus from her 'Funny Girl' stint on Broadway, due to positive test results of COVID-19, the actor has poked fun at a wild conspiracy theory that has been doing the rounds online for the past five or so years.
Joining TikTok in her downtime, Lea Michele captioned the short video with "Calling Jonathan to read me the comments on my first TikTok," referencing her friend and fellow Broadway actor Jonathan Groff from 'The Matrix Resurrections'. Essentially, Michele sees all of the chat about her and is now finally in on the joke. Watch the TikTok here.
She took some inspiration from 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' by using audio of Kim Kardashian when she called Joe Francis while on holiday in Mexico. Kim says in tears: "It's amazing but wait, can you talk for a sec?"
To catch you up to speed with the "Lea Michele can't read" conspiracy theory, the bizarre story is basically what it says on the tin. It originally spawned from the 'One More Thing' podcast, which was discussing the late Naya Rivera's memoir, 'Sorry Not Sorry'. Rivera worked with Michele on 'Glee', and in the book she remembers that her co-star refused to improvise lines with Tim Conway. The podcast hosts joke that maybe it's because Lea Michele couldn't read - and the conspiracy theory was born, grew some legs and is all across the internet.
Michele joined TikTok this week during her downtime, and if you have a look through the comments on her videos, viewers are asking questions such as "did your baby read this to you Lea?" and remarking "I hope her assistant reads her this comment section." If conspiracy theories are your jam, there's a damn good podcast you should be listening to.
