This is seriously the cutest thing

If you're in need of a boost before heading into another working week, or heck, since it's December, you're probably in the mood for something Christmassy, so read on.

Last week, a family in Australia came home to find a koala had managed to wander into their home.

Not only that but the creature had climbed up into their Christmas tree and perched herself there contently.

The McCormick family contacted their local koala rescue charity.

Sharing a picture of the little guy on Facebook, 1300koalaz wrote on Instagram: "This evening our hotline operator took a call. At first she thought she was the victim of a prank call.

"But no, a koala desperate to get in the Christmas spirit had wandered into Amanda McCormick’s house and decided it wanted to be the fairy on the Christmas tree.

"Amanda was not so sure and rang 1300KOALAZ for help.

"Thanks Amanda for the great pictures and making sure this little koala got its wish, even if it was just for a short while."

Amanda's daughter, Taylah shared a video of the Christmas tree addition on Tiktok.

The koala was safely released back into the neighbourhood of Coromandel Valley, South Australia, a region and habitat full of koalas. She scurried up into a nearby gum tree.
