He paid tribute to Olivia Newton-John in his intro
It's been a tough couple of years for John Travolta, having lost his wife Kelly Preston in 2020 and his 'Grease' co-star and friend Olivia Newton-John last year.
The actor was on stage at last night's Oscars to introduce the 'In Memoriam' segment, but was visibly emotional as he paid tribute to Newton-John.
"They've touched our hearts, they've made us smile, and became dear friends, who we will always remain hopelessly devoted to," he said, his voice breaking as he referenced the 'Grease' ballad 'Hopelessly Devoted to You'.
He then pulled himself together to introduce Lenny Kravitz, who played as the video montage honouring those who have died over the past year played.
However, there was some controversy over the In Memoriam segment as many fans criticised the omission of several names including Paul Sorvino, Anne Heche, Leslie Jordan, Charlbi Dean and Tom Sizemore, who passed away last week.
Although the show's producers claimed that the full list was online, the omission of certain names each year generates a kerfuffle.
