Jodie Foster inspired Kristen Stewart's recent emergence back into the public eye.
Following a backlash after she was caught cheating with her 'Snow White and the Huntsman' director Rupert Sanders, the 'Twilight' star was seen wearing former boyfriend Robert Pattinson's Baltimore Orioles hat and his backpack as she stepped out in Los Angeles on a coffee run this week.
It was her 'Panic Room' co-star and mentor 49-year-old Jodie that was the driving force in getting Kristen out again.
A source said: 'Jodie has been an incredible friend to Kristen through this whole situation.
'She told Kristen that it was no good moping around the house and that the sooner she faced the world and was seen in public, the quicker she can move on with her life.'
Jodie is hoping Kristen, 22, will be able to re-establish her reputation with the right kind of press and urged her to step out.
The insider continued to website RadarOnline: 'It wasn't doing her any good hiding and Jodie was aware of that and convinced her to leave her safety zone in an effort to end the media hounding.
'While it goes a long way in helping matters, Jodie still thinks she could maybe address her actions with an exclusive interview.
'But Jodie is helping Kristen take baby steps in repairing the damage that was caused by her affair with Rupert.'
Jodie offered Kristen a shoulder to cry on soon after reports of her affair broke.
A source revealed: 'As soon as she heard the news, Jodie contacted Kristen to offer her support.'
