It was young Billy's third heart surgery
Jimmy Kimmel has always been open about the health issues facing his young son Billy, and has given his fans an update on his condition.
The now-7-year-old was born with a congenital heart defect and first had heart surgery when he was just three days old.
The talk show host revealed that the youngster went in for his third - and hopefully last - surgery over the weekend, and that thankfully all went well.
He posted a picture of a smiling Billy in a hospital bed, thanking the surgeons and staff of CHLA for their "immeasurable kindness and expertise", saying: "This weekend, our boy Billy had his third (of three, we hope) open heart surgery. We went into this experience with a lot of optimism and nearly as much fear and came out with a new valve inside a happy, healthy kid."
Kimmel has been a staunch supporter of the Affordable Care Act, which Donald Trump attempted to repeal during his time as president, which allows
"Thanks to those loving strangers who took time to pray for and send positive energy to our baby," he added in the heartfelt post. "Thanks to our family and friends for rallying around us to an almost-ridiculous extent, thank you to my wife Molly for being stronger than is reasonable for any Mom to be and Billy, you are the toughest (and funniest) 7 year-old we know. There are so many parents and children who aren’t fortunate enough to go home after five days."
Kimmel has two children from a previous marriage, and shares Billy and 9-year-old Jane with wife Molly McNearney, a co-head-writer for 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'.
Get well soon, Billy!
