The 'Jurassic Park' and 'The Fly' star Jeff Goldblum got candid on a podcast, as you do
Jeff Goldblum has recently got tongues wagging by giving an insight into his parenting approach.
In a candid interview on iHeart’s 'Table for Two' podcast with Bruce Bozzi, Goldblum revealed why he won’t be providing financial support to his children as they grow older.
Goldblum, who has two sons, Charlie (8) and River (6), with his wife, Emilie Livingston, emphasised the importance of self-reliance, saying that he tells his children, "Hey, you know, you’ve got to row your own boat."
Goldblum’s decision resonates with other notable figures in Hollywood, such as Daniel Craig, Gordon Ramsay, and Elton John, who have all expressed similar feelings about not leaving trust funds for their children. Instead, they've said they advocate for a hands-on approach to financial independence.
It might seem a bit harsh to not want to shower your children with money when you’re as rich as Goldblum, but maybe he has a point. We’ve all seen what money can do to the kids of the rich and famous. It’s not about withholding love or care; rather, it’s a deliberate choice to empower them.
As Goldblum puts it, "You’ve got to figure out how to find out what’s wanted and needed and where that intersects with your love and passion and what you can do. And even if it doesn’t, you might have to do that anyway."
Let’s hope Goldblum’s kids share the same sentiment, or they might be bitterly disappointed.
