Oh thank God. I was beginning to panic at the mere thought of enduring a weekend devoid of John and Edward…
The twins, now back in the homestead, appeared on 2FM's Will Leahy show yesterday. And they had this to say:
Of being invited on to this Friday's Late Late, Edward said: "Aw yeah, the Toy Show, we're so excited, like we're going to be on the Toy Show. We look at it every single year. It's kind of cool because it's Ryan Tubridy's first show and it's going to be really memorable." For the wrong reasons. Earthworm Jim in jeans and a Christmas jumper instead of a suit? That's just wrong.
Of being famous, Edward added: "The last time we left Ireland... no-one knew who we were and then when we came back everyone was like 'whoah John and Edward'... now we don't have to introduce ourselves because everyone knows us... There was so much fan support out there that we couldn't let that (the cacophony of boos coming from a baying crowd of malcontents) get to us because thousands of people auditioned for the show and we didn't want to let people bully us off stage because they were booing us."
John had more important subjects to tackle, like their hair: "We never knew there was going to be such a major thing about it. It was always around... I think a lot of people could have our hair, just gel up their hair instead of having it down." And do you ever quibble with Edward, John? "The thing about me and Edward is that we never fight or have any rows because if we ever had a row I'd just be arguing with myself because he's my twin."
Brilliant.
As for who they're backing to win, it is of course that other epitome of sheer gormless glee, Stacey: "I think we'd love it if Stacey won the show... because I feel that she's a genuine person and she knows who she is and she's the same off camera and on camera and I feel that she does a great performance every single week."
You never know, with any bit of luck Stacey could go on to win. She could even enjoy the same level of fame as Susan Boyle and end up having a meltdown after a live televised performance at New York's Rockefeller Centre. Good times.
That won't happen though, 'cause - according to those ever handy sources - the wee male version of Cheryl is going to win. Simon's reportedly gone so far as to "pick Journey's 1981 power balled Don't Stop Believin. Joe belted it out so well in Rock Week it returned to the Top 20." Super, cause we haven't nearly heard enough of that song in the last three years.
Simon would make more money if he let John and Edward release Bros' When Will I Be Famous. That would be perfection. They even have that little jogging on the spot dance down and everything.
