Jay Z is working with Barney's of New York to design and promote a new line leading up to the Christmas season. Described as being influenced by New York itself, the line has been designed by a number of top labels, including Moncler, Lavin, Balenciega and Rick Owens.
The collection includes a black leather backpack from Balenciaga, a black square-print scarf from Balmain, a hoodie from Rick Owens, a tailored jacket from Lanvin, a black leather duffel with faux crocodile trim from Proenza Schouler and a double-ring from Hoorsenbuhs. Jay Z conceived the entire range within a white, black, silver and gold color scheme, which we think is in keeping with both the album covers for Magna Carta and Watch The Throne.
The range isn't going into massive production and will only be available in Ireland via Barney's website, barneys.com. There's nothing really on it jumping out at us at the moment, although the Stutterheim raincoat looks pretty cool. Likewise, the square duffel bag also has a nice vibe to it, very shaped and geometric. In terms of practicality or even affordability, we can guess that it's pipe-dream stuff.
