Jamie Spears' lawyer, Vivian Thoreen, gave an interview with 'GMA' that's causing ripples.
If you've watched 'Framing Britney Spears' or are vaguely familiar with the #FreeBritney movement, odds are you're familiar with Vivian Thoreen - she's the lawyer representing Jamie Spears, the father of Britney Spears, who has had her under conservatorship for almost two decades.
Although many of her most ardent fans have been saying it in all that time, it's only now that the movement around getting Britney Spears out from under it is beginning to form critical mass. In an admittedly strange interview on 'GMA', Vivian Thoreen laid out her side of the case - though her interview looked like a hostage video, oddly enough.
"This is a story about a fiercely loving, dedicated, and loyal father who rescued his daughter from a life-threatening situation. People were harming her and exploiting her. Jamie saved Britney's life," Thoreen stated. Thoreen also claimed that Britney Spears only had assets totalling $2.8 million before the conservatorship began, but the singer now has over $60 million in her finances as a result of his work.
As well as this, Thoreen also claimed that Britney never made any statements or indications that she was afraid of her father, as was claimed in a recent court filing. "Britney never said those things to Jamie. She never asked him to step aside," Thoreen added.
All in all, it's a very strange interview. Take a look and see for yourself.
