"The state of the world today, we need them both, and we all actually need one another more than ever."
Whatever way you look at it, Oscars 2022 will forever be associated with that moment. Now months after the controversy, Jada Pinkett Smith lays out her hopes for the two men involved in the Oscars slap.
We're sure you don't need reminding of the incident, but back in March during the elite event, the comic had made an insensitive joke about the Pinkett Smith and her alopecia diagnosis, saying: "Jada, I love you. 'GI Jane 2', can’t wait to see it."
Will Smith, initially laughing at the remark, unexpectedly went up on stage to slap Chris Rock in a moment that resulted in him getting banned from The Academy Awards for 10 years. Later that night, Smith went on to win Best Actor for 'King Richard'.
The latest episode of Pinkett Smith's Facebook Watch show, 'Red Table Talk', features special guests who are associated with the disease. During the discussion, Jada Pinkett Smith addressed the Oscars moment, saying: "Now, about Oscar night, my deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out, and reconcile.
"The state of the world today, we need them both, and we all actually need one another more than ever.
"Until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last 28 years, and that’s keep figuring out this thing called life together."
The 50-year-old actor, known for her roles in 'The Matrix', 'Bad Moms' and 'Scream 2', said that "thousands" of people have reached out to her "with their stores" following the widely documented moment.
Just last week, Smith sat down with TV host David Letterman to talk about pop culture's most-talked-about moment of 2022, admitting that ayahuasca, the hallucinogenic drug, foresaw his downfall.
