The Amateur International Boxing Association, AIBA, have released a statement in the wake of corruption and cheating allegations made towards the organisation at the Rio Olympics. 

There were several controversial judging decisions made throughout the tournament. One of the most notable came during Michael Conlan's defeat yesterday. The Belfast native was irate following the decision and made his feelings clear in a post match TV interview. 

"Following recent judging decisions and after carrying out a thorough examination by the relevant Commission, AIBA has decided to take immediate and appropriate actions." the statement begins. 

"The AIBA R&J has reviewed all the decisions and determined that less than a handful of the decisions were not at the level expected and consequently it has been decided in accordance with the AIBA R&J evaluation committee that the concerned referees and judges will no longer officiate at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games."

"In accordance with AIBA rules the result of all the bouts will stand."

AIBA's statement will provide little consolation to Conlan and it is not know if the judges who have been sent home were involved in his bout.
