Anyone else feel like this thing could come to life at any moment and try and claw us to death before eating our flesh? No? Just us?
Lara Clarke (originally from Northern Ireland but now living in Britain) baked an almost life-sized cake of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow for a cake competition and while we've yet to find out where she placed in the competition, we do know that that thing is freaking scary as shit. There's something about it's sly sideways smile and dead eyes that just screams 'I'm going to get you in your sleep'.
Clarke admitted that her entry was a bit weird, telling the BBC: 'The judges are probably more used to seeing three-tier wedding cakes than giant Jack Sparrows'. Well yes, they probably are. The cake, which was made from crisped rice and marshmallows with PVC pipes and stainless steel supports and decorated with royal and fondant icing and edible paint, was described as 'surprising' by the judges of the Cake International competition in Birmingham. Understatement of the week there.
Apparently Lara only got into baking two years ago, but since then has made a 4ft Grinch cake, a motorbike and one of her mother-in-law. Which I'm sure made for a not-at-all awkward cake-cutting and dessert scenario at that party.
