The Ireland's Potato restaurant in Taiwan recognises that we have a love affair with the humble spud here, but we're not so sure they've done their homework on our national proverbs.
One holiday-maker decided that they'd get a taste of some traditional Irish cuisine on their visit to Taiwan (no better place for it) and spotted that, on the back of their menu, they have an ancient Irish saying about the importance of the spud. Thankfully, they posted it on reddit so that the wisdom could be disseminated throughout the internets.
It reads "Ireland's proverb says: There are two things in the world that can't be joked [sic] 1. marriage 2. potato"
Potatoes are serious business in all fairness.
