Drowning out the Haka with 'Fields of Athenry' didn't do the trick we hoped it would, it seems.
After a pummeling game of rugby, Ireland fell 46-14 to the All Blacks in Japan.
Despite a hopeful (and loud) crowd, Ireland's defeat was all but assured by the end of the first half, trailing New Zealand by twenty-two points.
Needless to say, Irish Twitter wasn't exactly all that hopeful throughout the game and, in the end, the defeat was all but inevitable. Here's some of the highlights / lowlights during the game.

Well the kindest thing I can say about this is that at least my Irish friends will not be going into half time encumbered by the burden of hope. #NZLvIRE

Why not instead of just letting New Zealand score all the points we let Ireland, the Island of Ireland, score some points? #IREvNZL #NZLvIRE #RWC2019 pic.twitter.com/Ii4GcGiWPe
