If you happen to flick on to Twitter during a game that's being shown on ITV (or any time of the day, really) you'll find a pretty consistent string of abuse aimed towards former Republic of Ireland player Andy Townsend. 

The reason being that people really don't enjoy his commentary, but, as the old song goes, "you don't know what you got till it's gone", as it looks like Andy is out of a job at ITV after they lost the rights to show pretty much any football at all. 

The broadcaster will now not be showing FA Cup, live Champions League or Europa League football anymore, and it seems that a mutual decision has been taken not to renew Townsend's contract. According to The Daily Mail, he is believed to have offers to work on live football from other broadcasters abroad, and given the amount of opportunities there are at the moment, he will more than likely have the last laugh, all the way to the bank. 

Still, that didn't stop the majority of Twitter poking fun at him this morning.
