There's bad news for the people who illegally download Survivor, Pierce Brosnan's 2015 spy-thriller.
Granted, that probably wasn't a lot of people, but 16 of those who did have been caught and are being sued by the film's producer, Avi Lerner.
Lerner, who previously took action against the pirates of Expendables 3, has filed lawsuits against 16 people found to have downloaded the film through popular torrent software, Popcorn Time.
Nu Image and Millennium, the film's production companies, claim that Survivor has been downloaded hundreds of thousands of times, with over 10,000 downloads in the state of Oregon, where the suit was filed.
The official complaint claimed that "Popcorn Time exists for one purpose and one purpose only: to steal copyrighted content."
The defendants haven't yet been named, but face court action if they don't settle for $750 of damages the companies are seeking, which is the minimum amount for copyright infringement under 17 U.S. Code § 504.
