Hugh Grant is clearly not wasting anytime in being a dad, seeing as he's just said hello to two children of his very own in the last 18 months. After becoming a father for the second time with Chinese actress Tinglan Hong, who's 19 years his junior by the by, Grant took to Twitter of all places to reveal the news. Probably a safer bet, considering his track record with the tabloids.
'Am thrilled my daughter now has a brother. Adore them both to an uncool degree. They have a fab mum.', he began in a series of tweets on Saturday. 'And to be crystal clear. I am the Daddy'. Th relationship status between himself and Tinglan is buried in a cloud of mystery, with Grant previously describing it as a 'fleeting affair' but also praising her saying 'She is a good person, a nice person; funny, clever, great mother.'
Having previously been in relationships with Elizabeth Hurley and Jemima Khan, Grant's turn towards privacy in recent years is in part due to the fact that becoming a father has made him feel like a better person, but in a very British stiff upper lip way. Sometimes you do make it difficult to remove yourself from the characters you play Hugh.
'(People) said never let anyone know, but the baby period is not that exciting. But I am excited, actually. I thought, well, I'll bluff through - but very little bluffing has been required. I like my daughter very much. Fantastic. Has she changed my life? I'm not sure. Not yet. Not massively, no. But I'm absolutely thrilled to have had her, I really am. And I feel a better person. There probably is some truth that one of our main functions on the planet is to reproduce, because it feels like more of an achievement than it should do.' And that was baby numero uno Tabitha. No word yet on the name of number two, but it's probably going to be something conservative. He's not exactly a Blue Ivy type now is he?
