We don’t know whether to laugh or cry about the #HimToo trend that is sweeping the internet. Still, it’s nice to see that rather everyone taking this latest tweet personally and getting angry about it, the general consensus has been to laugh at its ridiculousness.
The hashtag gained new traction after being used by an American mother, who one would hope had the best if very naïve intentions, with the Twitter handle @MarlaReynoldsC3. In a tweet that has since been deleted (as has the account), she wrote: “This is MY son. He graduated #1 in boot camp. He was awarded the USO award. He was #1 in A school.
“He is a gentleman who respects women. He won’t go on solo dates due to the current climate of false sexual accusations by radical feminists with an axe to grind.”
She concluded her message to the world with the words “I VOTE #HimToo” – using the hashtag which has become prominent in recent weeks as Brett Kavanaugh has sought to overcome allegations of sexual assault to seal a place on the Supreme Court.

Fortunately both the man who the tweet was about and his brother have come forward to set matters straight.
Jon Hanson tweeted: “My brother is trending on twitter because of my moms ridiculous tweet. I’m a mixture of laughing hard and feeling bad for him. #HimToo”

Pieter Hanson, who is the Navy man and subject matter of the infamous tweet, also took to the social media platform to explain: "That was my Mom. Sometimes the people we love do things that hurt us without realizing it. Let’s turn this around. I respect and #BelieveWomen . I never have and never will support #HimToo . I’m a proud Navy vet, Cat Dad and Ally. Also, Twitter, your meme game is on point."

The 'meme game' to which he refers was sparked by his mother's tweet, and can be enjoyed in the examples below:
This is MY son. He graduated #1 in boot camp. He is the strongest Avenger. He broke Harlem. I VOTE. #HimToo pic.twitter.com/AOaYJlL6TT

This is MY son. He singlehandedly runs a small hotel. He's a homeowner. He knows a boy's best friend is his mother. He goes a little mad sometimes. He won't go on solo dates due to the current climate of false accusations by radical anti-shower-stabbing feminists. I VOTE. #HimToo pic.twitter.com/qSYY7Cy46E

This is my son. He is a gentleman who treats ladies with respect. He’s afraid to date right now because of the current climate. Seriously, because of the actual climate his future kids won’t be able to survive. I vote. #HimToo pic.twitter.com/pxefN68aNZ
