Berry did not give permission for the rapper to use a photo of her being slimed
You know the old saying: 'a picture paints a thousand words, but using a picture of a Hollywood actress being slimed without her permission will make her very annoyed.'
Drake has upset Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry by using a picture of her from the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, where she gallantly offered herself up to be slimed.
The Canadian rapper wanted to use the image of Berry on his new single, a collaboration with SZA called 'Slime You Out', and reportedly asked Berry would this be okay.
She said no, but Drake went ahead and used it anyway - and now the 'Monster's Ball' actress is very unhappy about it.
She shared an image of the saying "Sometimes you have to be the bigger guy...even if you're a woman!'" over the weekend, a few days after the cover of the single had been released. Later that day, a fan asked her thoughts on her image being used, and she said "Hence my post today. When people you admire disappoint you you have to be the bigger person and move on !"
She added (in response to another post), "He did have his people call my people call my people and I said NO. I didn't like that image of slime all over my face in association with his song. And he chose to do it anyway ! You see...that is the disrespect. Not cool !"
Another fan commented saying "While I do understand your side. That photo is owned by Getty Images. So im sure he got their permission. And paid the fee. Why you mad." Berry responded: "Cuz he asked me and i said NO that's why. Why ask if you intend to do what you want to do ! That was the f--k you to me. Not cool. You get it?"
She added that it was about "principles and integrity", and agreed with a fan who said "I would be more upset about the meaning of the pic. 'Slime you' what does that mean exactly? Hmm...". She replied "Exactly! What does that mean?"
Drake has not publicly commented on the matter - however, the Spotify stream of the song displays different cover art.
