Well it's good news for all of Dublin really, considering the mayhem the bus strikes were causing around the city. It's particularly great though for those travelling to the much anticipated All-Ireland final replay between Mayo and Dublin this Saturday, as the bus strikes have now been suspended.
The decision comes after thirty hours of negotiations at the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) between management and unions. The reason why the strike action is only suspended for now is because Dublin Bus has yet to formally accept the offer being proposed, with a document set to be sent around to garages shortly.
It can be a seen as a bit of a win for Dublin Bus though, as a deal has been reached for a 3.75pc increase on pay each year for the next three years, amounting to an 11.25pc pay increase. The Unions initially wanted a 15pc pay increase, but we'd imagine they will make a deal on this.
So it looks like order has been restored to the mean streets of Dublin, that is until the Guards go on strike in November, then we're all up sh*t creek.
