Another frustrating example of the discrepancies between pay cheques…
Wonder Woman may be the hottest ticket Warner Bros/DC has had in a looooooooong time, but the pay actress Gal Gadot received for taking on the titular role does not reflect her achievement.
According to The Daily Dot, Gal Gadot was paid $300,000 for the solo outing.
Now, it is arguable that this isn’t the first time an actor has gotten a curiously low salary for a major superhero outing – Chris Evans, for example, reportedly also got a base pay of $300,000 for Captain America: the First Avenger. However, the actors in the first Avengers movie earned between $2-6 million after bonuses, with Robert Downey Jr. taking home $50 million.
Moreover, fellow Warner Bros/DC superhero actor Henry Cavill earned $14 million for Man of Steel, according to Forbes. Thus Gadot’s salary is a mere 2% of Cavill’s for their first respective outings as major DC superheroes.
According to Variety, Gadot will earn $300,000 per film signed a contract in 2014 that gave her $300,000 for each DC film she does, and she’s likely to make a lot more from bonuses. Moreover, with Wonder Woman having earned over $570 million worldwide to date, Gadot can expect a raise when the sequel is announced.
