"I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander, or blackmail."
Evan Rachel Wood has previously spoken about being subjected to alleged abuse by an ex-partner she did not name. She has now issued a statement claiming Marilyn Manson is the name of her abuser.
Writing on Instagram, the actress said: "The name of my abuser is Brian Warner, also known to the world as Marilyn Manson. He started grooming me when I was a teenager and horrifically abused me for years.
"I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission. I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander, or blackmail.
"I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him, before he ruins any more lives. I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent."
Evan Rachel Wood and Marilyn Manson went public with their relationship in 2007. She was 19 years old at the time while he was 38.
They got engaged in 2010 but broke up later that year.
Wood first opened up about being a survivor of rape and domestic violence in 2016 and has been an activist on the issues since.
In 2019, she created the Phoenix Act, a bill that extends the statute of limitations on domestic violence to five years from three.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed the bill into law in October 2019. It took effect in January 2020.
At least four other women have posted their own allegations of sexual assault, psychological abuse, and various forms of coercion and violence in their relationships with Manson, via Vanity Fair.
The musician has denied similar allegations in the past. His representatives have not commented at this time.
