I'm guessing there might be one or several sore heads this morning… For, as @ElaineBucko put it on Twitter a few hours ago, "So @Entertainment.ie basically won the internet tonight? Grand."
Picture the scene (yes, I'm totally milking this, wouldn't you...) On one side of the city, in the Convention Centre, we were winning the Eircom Spider Award for Best News and Entertainment Website. Meanwhile, over on t'other side of the city in the Mansion House, we were accepting Best Entertainment Website in Ireland at the Web Awards. Then we only won the bleedin' Grand Prix Award making us officially the Best Website in all the land. In short, I chose the wrong year not to attend either ceremony, GODNAMMIT.
This is the part where we officially get annoying. Think Gwyneth Paltrow and Sally Field fornicating gleefully with each other in the Oscars green room. Seriously though, never has there been a more fitting year for us to win this landslide. 2012 is the year we were redesigned, we turned the ripe old age of 15, and we've just reached a new high of having over 1,000,000 viewers come to our website every month. I really couldn't be more proud as I head off to have a baby of my own in a few short months (nope, I never miss an opportunity to drop that in to a story. Call it a coping mechanism).
Here's where things start to really get embarrassing :-) Here is entertainment.ie. We may be small, but we’re perfectly formed. These fine folk, along with our siblings in Fusio, the dashing sorts in Electric Media, all our clients, and - most importantly - you the viewer reading this right now (assuming you're still reading), yeah you, are responsible for this site. Thank you one and all, you like us, you REALLY LIKE US!!
Yours for the last 15 years, entertainment.ie.
