Donald Trump is wasting little time in assembling the team that will be running the United States of America during his presidency.
The President elect has been begun appointing key cabinet members and one name that is sure to stand out for anyone that followed professional wrestling in the late 90s and early 00s is Linda McMahon. Trump is reportedly interested in recruiting McMahon for the position of Commerce Secretary in his cabinet.
Linda McMahon is of course the wife of WWE CEO, Vince McMahon and held the position of WWE CEO herself for a number of years before resigning in 2009 to pursue her political career. She unsuccessfully ran for the US Senate in Connecticut as a member of the Republican party in 2010 and 2012.
Donald Trump's relationship with the McMahons goes back years. Wrestlemania IV and V were held in Trump Plaza in Atlantic City and Trump even appeared in an extended storyline in the build up to Wrestlemania XXIII which saw him come to blows with Vince McMahon before being on the receiving end of a Stone Cold Stunner.
Trump is also the first ever WWE Hall of Fame inductee to be elected President of the United States.
The McMahons have donated millions to the Trump Foundation in the past. $5m in 2007 and 2009 respectively which were reportedly the largest single donations that the organisation ever received.
Linda McMahon condemned Trump's remarks against women during the election campaign, calling them deplorable in an October interview. However she has remained consistent in her belief that Trump was the man for the job.
"He really is a vessel of this angst and unrest in this country,” McMahon said. “He said it straight out, didn’t worry about being politically correct … I think that really is a seed of a great deal of his popularity. I think Donald has proven himself in a lot of areas to be an astute businessman. I think that he will hire good people for advice.”
