Didier Drogba does a lot of charity work outside of football, and after Turkey's mining disaster, he made another great gesture.
As a UN Ambassador and a man with his own charity, Didier Drogba is known for his work with good causes off the field, and the Galatasaray striker has made another fantastic gesture by donating €1 million to the families of those who were affected by the Turkish mining disaster in Soma recently where 301 people lost their lives.
According to Goal.com, the Cote D'Ivoire international stated that he didn't want his name used at all in relation to the donation, saying "I am a U.N. ambassador of goodwill and I will do all that I can to help the people in Soma, but I don’t want anyone to use my name. I’m not someone who will promote himself in such issues. I don’t need this sort of self-promotion."
Fans around the country showed their support this weekend in Turkey too, while the players of Galatasaray, including Drogba, took to the field wearing mining helmets in a gesture of solidarity.
