Indeed, just when you thought Daniel could get more majestic, he goes and gets himself a knighthood. According to ITV News, the multi-Oscar-winning actor (he's the only person to date who's won Best Actor 3 times - sorry Leo) attended a ceremony in Buckingham Palace earlier today and was knighted by The Duke of Cambridge - AKA William. Hopefully he wasn't hanging after the Royal Variety Show last night; imagine being in charge of a sword and several celebrities' heads while having 'the fear'...

Sir Daniel is being honoured for "his services to drama."

Sir Daniel grew up in Souf Landan, and now currently resides in the rather more low-key setting of Wicklow, with his missus Rebecca Miller. We can officially call him one of our own as he's got both dual Irish and British citizenship.
