Wearing yellow and blue too
We were always particularly fond of the actor, but now our fondness for him has potentially tipped us overboard into adoration.
Actor Dan Stevens been getting a lot of praise for his appearance on 'The One Show' last night, taking a rather satisfying jab at the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Known for playing Beast in Disney's live-action 'Beauty And The Beast', as well as appearances in 'Downton Abbey', 'Legion' and as Will Ferrell's Russian nemesis in 'Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga', the actor had everyone talking online following his surprising joke on the chat show yesterday evening.
We're not going to spoil what happens, so take a look for yourself before we dissect his comments. Kudos to the two presenters for keeping it together.
Yep, instead of describing the TV series he's on there to promote, Dan Stevens just described UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson as "a criminal for a leader who is wrapped in a messy war, embroiled in a stupid scandal and is surrounded by ambitious idiots, and really should resign" live on air, appearing to confuse his character with the real man in charge of the UK right now.
The real show that Stevens stars in is called 'Gaslit', a political thriller that boasts a stacked cast of Julia Roberts, Sean Penn, Betty Gilpin and Hamish Linklater. The limited series is based on the chaotic time of former US President Richard Nixon's reign during the early 70s, closely following his team of subordinates. Stevens will play White House attorney John Dean, with Penn and Roberts as husband and wife John and Martha Mitchell. John N. Mitchell was sent to jail for the Watergate scandal under Nixon's leadership. The series is set to begin on Starz this April.
'Gaslit' isn't the only Nixon series scheduled for this year. HBO's 'White House Plumbers' will be a more comical take on Nixon's farcical leadership, featuring a cast including Domhnall Gleeson, Woody Harrelson, Justin Theroux, Kiernan Shipka and Lena Headey.
Stevens' swipe - while wearing yellow and blue for Ukraine - has been getting a lot of attention on Twitter, and he's some of the reaction to his words.
Just going to retweet this for eternity.

He had to do it on the softest, most middle of the road programme too. Absolute genius!
