Piper Perabo, who's currently on 'Covert Affairs' but will always be known to us as Violet from 'Coyote Ugly', has been arrested for civil disobedience.
The actor was protesting during Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's hearing. A video of the incident shows Perabo shouting, along with other protesters, during a meeting of the Senate Judiciary Committee in Washington DC.
In total, some 22 people were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct by the police during the highly publicised event. Perabo's no stranger to political activism, and was one of thousands who turned out to protest at Trump Tower in support of the DACA Program which Donald Trump was attempting to close.
Shortly after being arrested, Perabo tweeted out this message along with a video of the incident itself.
I was just arrested for civil disobedience in the Kavanaugh hearings.
Many citizens before me have fought for the equal rights of women. I can’t be silent when someone is nominated to the Supreme Court who would take our equal rights away.#StopKavanaghpic.twitter.com/f3SG7gmVam

The controversy surrounding Brett Kavanaugh and his nomination to the Supreme Court - and the reason why Perabo and others were protesting - stems from the Trump Administration's lack of disclosure as to Kavanaugh's record in the White House. Close to 7% of his documents have been released to the public as part of his nomination process, whilst other nominees - such as Associate Justice Sotomayer - released 100% of their documents during their nomination.
Not only that, Kavanaugh was also lambasted at the same hearing for refusing to shake the hand of Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter died in the Parkland mass shooting. It's also believed that Kavanaugh will likely overturn Roe V. Wade, the legal precedent that has ensured access to abortion for women across the United States at a federal level.
Much of Perabo's Twitter feed is made up of retweets from political activists, so it's clearly an issue she feels strongly enough about it.
