The comedian who threw cash over FIFA president Sepp Blatter has been charged with trespassing by the Swiss authorities.
Simon Brodkin, who plays the character of Lee Nelson on stage, has a history of these kind of stunts, most recently disrupting Kanye West's Glastonbury performance by storming the stage mid-set.
After Brodkin was released following questioning by the Zurich authorities last week, a police spokesperson told the BBC that Brodkin "will be charged for trespassing because he wasn't allowed to enter the building."Â
Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be that big of a deal in Switzerland, and judging by the spokesperson's quotes, it seems like it'll be a slap on the wrist for the comedian. "If there will be a trial it is still to be decided by the prosecutor.
"Trespassing in Switzerland is just prosecuted by request like other minor crimes."
We're not saying Blatter didn't deserve this, nor are we saying Kanye didn't deserve a taste of his own medicine at Glastonbury, but shock comedy is rarely worth of any appreciation, especially when it comes from someone who has been doing these things for publicity for a long time.
Brodkin tried to board the England squad's plane before the 2014 World Cup, and has been charged with pitch encroachment following an attempt to warm up with the Manchester City players before a Premier League game back in 2013.
If only he had some other  medium to express his discontent with problems in this world, like if he could stand on a stage for an hour and express his thoughts articulately, to a crowd of people who were interested in his opinions. If only.
