She is accused of "completely missing the point of the show"
Chrissy Teigen seemingly can't avoid controversy lately after she hosted a a party based off the South Korean Netflix show, where attendees played games and dressed up as characters.
The plot, in case you're not one of the millions of people to have watched the show, centres on a number of debt-ridden people competing to the death in a series of children's games in order to win a huge amount of money, all for the enjoyment of the rich VIP's.
What has seemingly annoyed people is that Teigen, a fairly well-off celebrity, spent a huge amount of money decorating her mansion in order to re-enact a premise that basically takes advantage of people in serious need of money, all for the enjoyment of rich people.
Teigen is no stranger to controversy. Earlier this year, claims of cyberbullying against her were brought to light. Courtney Stodden, famed for marrying 51-year-old actor Doug Hutchison in 2011 when she was 15, revealed Teigen sent her abusive messages.
The model also quit Twitter this year, claiming that the app "no longer serves me as positively as it serves me negatively."
Teigen, who is married to singer John Legend, was known for her Twitter account. She frequently tweeted self deprecating jokes and engaged humorously with numerous high-profile people.
Did she really intend to mock the plot of the show? Probably not. Was she maybe a bit tone-deaf to what she was doing? Sure. Is the internet mad regardless? You bet it is.
