And, just like that, Cheryl Cole lands a role in a Hollywood chick flick.

Indeed, Cole has reportedly landed a role alongside Jennifer Lopez and Cameron Diaz in new film What To Expect When You're Expecting. Oh, goody, a film about pregnancy starring JLo, the Geordie Burbler, and what is fast becoming the female version of Iggy Pop.

After failing to impress bosses at Fox and therefore axed from the X Factor USA judging panel, only to be replaced by Nicole Scherzinger, Cheryl is now said to be in 'advanced talks' to play - wait for it - a talent show judge who assesses Cameron's character in the upcoming flick. Oh, the irony! Or something.

A source told the Daily Mail: "This is a bit of fun for Cheryl. She will film the scenes imminently and is really looking forward to it. It doesn't mean she suddenly wants to become an actress (oh no, no, of course not). It was just an opportunity that has come up while she has been having some down time and she thought it would be great fun to take part."

Cole is said to have "impressed film executives during an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year", what with her ability to stand still while the best part of her baubles wave for the cameras.

For those of you enjoy the odd onslaught of chick flicks skittering out of Hollywood's wizened backside (Bridesmaids aside, obviously), "What to Expect When You're Expecting tells the story of six different couples who are each preparing to welcome a child. The movie is set to be released in May 2012."
