Say it with us now, 'Soylent Green is people!'. And so was the meat on the menu in a hotel restaurant in Anambra, Nigeria, after police discovered two human heads wrapped in cling film when they raided the premises following a tip-off from locals.
Police also discovered weapons, ammunition, mobile phones and two army caps when they searched the hotel, and arrested the owner, six women and four men. Human flesh was allegedly being sold as 'an expensive treat' in the restaurant, with the option of a full human head being up for grabs for any interested Hannibal Lecters out there with deep pockets.
A local pastor who went to the restaurant previously said: "I went to the hotel early this year, after eating, I was told that a lump of meat was being sold at N700, I was surprised. So I did not know it was human meat that I ate at such expensive price."
Meanwhile a local vegetable seller who always was suspect said: "Each time I came to market, because the hotel is very close to the market, I always noticed funny movements in and out of the hotel; dirty people with dirty characters always come into the hotel. So, I was not surprised when the police made this discovery in the early hours of yesterday."
That's a very nonchalant reaction to human flesh being served to people.
Salad for lunch it is.
