Day One at Cannes was a busy ole affair. The Jury had to haul themselves about making themselves known. I wonder who suggested this cunning pose to Uma (I'd wager Bob)... Thankfully, Jude was in better form than he was the prior day. His eyebrows couldn't wait to greet people.
Woody Allen's latest effort, Midnight in Paris - starring Rachel McAdams, Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, Michael Sheen, and this jaunty lady - opened the ceremony later on in the evening, so they all got to change clothes, which was nice for them.
Earlier on in the day, Salma Hayek and Antonio Banderas did their best to peddle the Shrek spin off - Puss In Boots, I believe it's called. Sultry giant shoe straddling, red leather dresses, transatlantic TV interviews and interesting camera angles all played their parts.
Speaking of "interesting camera angles" and "parts", I'll leave you with this one of Uma looking slightly bored during the Opening Ceremony. Yes, I said opening. And you're meant to be looking at her face... OK, she doesn't look that bored there, but she does here. Maybe she needs a lightly funneled breeze to wake her up.
Oh, and how could one forget, Lady GaGa got her arse out, 'cause that never happens.
Here's the gallery in full. Also contains the likes of Melanie Griffith, Fay Dunaway, Tilda Swinton, and more than it's fair share of tacky dresses.
