Here it is - the first of many, MANY galleries from the Cannes Film Festival. Here's the red carpet the same ten to fifteen people will repeatedly walk up, albeit in different outfits, for the best part of a week. And here are a few of those people bashfully going about their business before they doll themselves up and step out into the lime light. Uma Thurman flashed her massive hand, and even Robert De Niro politely waved. Melanie Laurent even went so far as to permit an interview.

And then there was Jude Law. Jude Law looking a bit weird. There was no wave, no words, simply some strange surprised sneer. Like his eyebrows were guiding him to his car over the rim of his oversized shades. Maybe he thought it best to fit into his surroundings and therefore adopted a stereotypically French Haw-hee-haw-hee-haw facial expression. Or perhaps he'd just been sucking on a lemon, like his mate (it'd be libelous to infer the pair had been engaged in consuming anything else that might result in such a facial expression, so we'll stick with the lemon).

In an aside, Lady GaGa is due to kick off the festivities today by performing an exclusive gig to "an A-list crowd" at the famous Boulevard de la Croisette, which will be broadcast live on the Le Grand Journal TV show - which is a great chance to plug Born This Way to a French audience.
