'The Whale' actor has settled the matter once and for all
You might think that a surname like 'Fraser' is straightforward enough that it's impossible to mispronounce.
However, actor Brendan Fraser has been complaining that no one ever pronounces it correctly - and considering his new film 'The Whale' has marked his successful comeback , you can expect to hear his name more often in the coming months. And it's NOT pronounced like 'Frasier'.
The topic arose during a recent conversation he had with Adam Sandler for Variety's 'Actors on Actors' series, where Sandler says: "When I first met Brendan Fraser… That’s your full name, right? Brendan Fraser?”
Fraser then corrects his pronunciation to rhyme 'Fraser' with the word 'razor', saying "You shave with a razor, you should try standing closer to it," joking about Sandler's beard.
Sandler once again mispronounced it as 'Frasier' later in the conversation, when Fraser gave up and said "Ok. Fuck it. No one’s ever gotten my name right."
If it's any consolation, Brendan, you've always been a Fraser in Ireland.
