It never ends. It never, ever ends.

Ask any parent the most excruciating part of raising a child in today's world and you're guaranteed at least one of them is going to mention 'Baby Shark' at some point.

It's the kind of song that it is so catchy and ear-worm inducing that it'll make you want to put a power drill in your forehead. What's more, small children and babies love it. Can't get them to go asleep? Put on 'Baby Shark'. They won't get dressed? Put on 'Baby Shark'.

Anyway, because of its myriad of uses, parents and presumably internet literate toddlers have now managed to push 'Baby Shark' over the line and make it the most-viewed currently on YouTube, now standing at a mind-boggling 7.042 billion views, surpassing the previous record holder, 'Despacito' by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee.

That music video had 7.038 billion views, and was neck-and-neck for some time before 'Baby Shark' pulled ahead and clinched the title last night.

Let's do some figures, then, to mark this moment.

The current global population is around 7.8 billion, which is about 90.358% of the views that 'Baby Shark' has tallied. If you watched 'Baby Shark' once a day for 7.042 billion years, the sun would eventually become a white dwarf and the planets Mercury and Venus would have been destroyed. If you received one US dollar for every time you watched 'Baby Shark', you'd end up with about as much money as Steve Jobs was worth when he died in 2011.

With that in mind, here's the video itself. Enjoy having it stuck in your head for the rest of the day.
