Armie Hammer is no longer involved with the drama 'The Offer' being produced for Paramount Plus. The series looks at the behind the scenes story of the making of 'The Godfather'.
Hammer was set to play Al Ruddy, who produced 'The Godfather' back in 1972.
The news comes just weeks after the actor departed the movie project 'Shotgun Wedding', in which he would have starred opposite Jennifer Lopez.
A controversy surrounds the actor after a number of unverified Instagram direct messages supposedly written by him leaked online.
The messages described graphic sexual fantasies, including cannibalism.
Hammer previously issued a statement on the scandal saying he would not respond to "bulls— claims."
He described the social media uproar around the messages as "vicious and spurious online attacks against [him]."
Armie Hammer most recently starred in 'Rebecca' for Netflix, opposite Lily James.
He will next star in 'Murder on the Orient Express' follow-up 'Death on the Nile'. He has also signed up to a sequel to 'Call Me By Your Name'.
A film based on the making of 'The Godfather', titled 'Francis and the Godfather', with Oscar Isaac and Jake Gyllenhaal set to star, is also in the works.
