It all kicked off with Donald Trump stating that he wanted to block Muslims from entering the US... If such petitions get 100,000 signatures, that means they must be dicussed in parliament.
If you only sign one petition this year, make it this one >> Block #DonaldTrump from UK entry https://t.co/MObBFSC3zT

Said petition reads: "The signatories believe Donald J Trump should be banned from UK entry. The UK has banned entry to many individuals for hate speech. The same principles should apply to everyone who wishes to enter the UK. If the United Kingdom is to continue applying the 'unacceptable behaviour' criteria to those who wish to enter its borders, it must be fairly applied to the rich as well as poor, and the weak as well as powerful."
Armando Iannucci, the mind behind The Thick of It, Veep, The Day Today and other satirical high points was quick to jump on board...
Last few minutes of the Trump petition. When it reaches 100,000 names Parliament is obliged to consider it. https://t.co/IWE3CnSB04

Getting close to a history-defining moment of active hypocrisy.... https://t.co/IWE3CnSB04

Not that he has anything personal against Trump... After the petition reached 100,000 and Armando thanked everyone for their "efforts", he said...
I don't think we should ban anyone for something they've said; but it's really funny it might be him.

Now we should petition Parliament to ban petitions asking Parliament to ban people.

His own effort didn't end there, with him cajoling people to take the number to 200,000...
Well, we might as well get it up to a quarter of a million. Ban the man who wants to ban. #hypocracy-in-action https://t.co/IWE3CnSB04

At the last count, it was somewhere around a quarter of a million signatures. The power of twitter at work, people...
A quarter of a million have signed the Trump petition. What a lovely democratic dilemma. Thanks all. https://t.co/IWE3CnSB04

After Piers Morgan dutifully brought events to Trump's attention, The Donald had this to offer...
Thank you, Piers, they don't know what they're getting into. https://t.co/UvKt1Go6nT
