Yesterday was a lively one for Colin Firth and King's Speech co-star Geoffrey Rush; after their Oscar Luncheon, they tap danced along to *hics* the AARP Magazine's 10th Annual Movies for Grownups Awards. I hope you'll join me in finding this title conflicting. On one hand the 'Movies for Grownups' part makes me think of Adult Movies, while the inclusion of AARP makes me think of PARP, which shouldn't be in adult movies at all... although it does depend on what you're into :-/
To add to the passing confusion, apart from the aforementioned Firth and Rush, no one else attending has been in a film for quite some time. Among the instantly recognisable faces, we have Jaclyn Smith; Larry Hagman; Andy Garcia and his very tall daughter; Maria Bello; Dana Delany; Jane Seymour; Tony Bennet; Sally Field; Wendie Mallick and Micky Rooney. Then we have Mimi Rogers (Tom Cruise's first beard); Jaclyn Smith; Cheryl Ladd; the lady from NYPD Blue/Glee; the broad from Carlito's Way; and the dad from the OC...
Aaah, as it turns out AARP stands for American Association of Retired Persons. Right, so now, instead of thinking "Wow, is Dana Delany retired?!" I'm thinking of 'Mature Adult Movies'... Don't know what's wrong with me today. But let's face it, it wouldn't be bad if it starred Bello, the OC dad and this bird. Or Tony Bennet. With Janey Semour, Andy Garcia, Larry Hagman and a bit of Ladd. I'll stop now.
