A chap who was being charged £220 for a change of name on a plane ticket to Ibiza with Ryanair, instead changed his actual name by deed pole - paying less than half the price.
It all got a smidge mixed up when his his girlfriend's step father booked the tickets and checked his Facebook profile for his full name - which he had listed as Adam West. Being a hip 19 year old, this is probably hilarious. Y'know, old Batman and all that craic.
Anyway, he contacted Ryanair to ask to have the name changed back so he could enjoy his holiday in the sun with his girlfriend, he was quoted a stiff £220 to do so - with it costing more than usual because he and his other half were both on the same ticket.
Ultimately Adam Armstrong, his real name, became Adam West officially - stumping up the £103 cost for a new passport.
A spokesperson for Ryanair said: ‘Customers are asked to ensure that the details they enter at the time of booking are correct before completing their booking and we offer a 24 hour ‘grace period’ to correct minor booking errors.
‘A name change fee is charged in order to discourage and prevent unauthorised online travel agents from ‘screenscraping’ Ryanair’s cheapest fares and reselling them on to unwitting consumers at hugely inflated costs.
‘Under our “Always Getting Better” improvement programme, we have reduced our baggage, sports equipment, airport check-in and missed departure fees, as we continue to improve the Ryanair travel experience for the 100m customers we’ll carry this year.’
At least he can legit say he's Batman now when anyone asks. Kind of. Sort of.
